pH colours

 Aim:

 I want to find out what the colours of pH are.

Research:

Science Red Cabbage:


Universal indicator:


Method:

Equipment:

  • Acid- Hhyrdochloric Acid
  • Base- Sodium Hyrdoxide
  • Test Tube Rack with test tube
  • Universal Indicator
Instructions:
  1. Get your equipment
  2. Put 10 drops of universal indicator into the test tube.
  3. Add different amounts of acid and base into the test tube.
  4. Watch what happens to the colour

Discussion:

What is acid? An Acid is a substance that in water solution tastes sour, it changes blue litmus paper to red. It reacts with some metals to release hydrogen and it reacts with bases to form salts.
