Art

 Hi guys,

Welcome back to my blog so for past the past few weeks we have been tracing flowers that have been photo copied paper. We have been tracing it on a baking paper and printed in again on a paper. We coloured it in and added background on it. We did the background, middleground and foreground. We have been learning things about Henri Rousseau. I learned that he self taught him about painting. Thoe are the things i've learned so far in art.

Thank your for reading my blog.

Blind Taste Testing

 Aim:

I want to find out if food tastes differently when you can't see or can't smell.

Research:

Funny video

Science video

Experiment video

Method:

Equipment
  • Blind fold
  • Mystery food
Instructions:

  1. Get your equipment
  2. Wash your hand
  3. Put on a blind fold
  4. Put your hand and pinch your nose.
  5.  Eat the food and guess what it is.
  6. Release your nose and taste the food.
  7. Where does the food react on your tongue.
Results:

Suagr:Food#1. Tasted like sugar when I pinch my nose and tasted like sugar when I unpinched my nose. There was no difference

Salt:Food#2. Tasted like salt when I pinch my nose and tasted like salt still when I unpinch my nose. There was no difference.

Baking Powder:Food#3. Tasted salty but it's actually baking powder. When I unpinch my nose it tasted more salty.

Citric Acid:Food#4. When I pinch my nose and ate it it doesn't taste that bad. When I unpinch my nose it tasted more worse and I tasted it on the back of my tounge.

Sour Lolly:Food#5. When I pinch my nose and ate it it didn't taste that sweet and sour. When I unblocked my nose It tasted more sweet and soury.

Burger ring:Food#6. When I pinch my nose the taste isn't that good in my mouth but when I unblocked my nose it tasted more better.

Dry Marshmellow:Food#7. I could taste it more when I unpinch my nose

Apple:Food#8 Tasted more again when I unpinch my nose.

Gummy bear: Food#9. Tasted more sweet when I unpinch my nose.

Pear: Food#9. Didn't taste it when I pinch my nose. I tasted it when I unpinch my nose.

Dairy Milk: Food#10.Tasted more sweet when I unpinch my nose

Lemon Rind: Food#11. Tasted the same, Both sour when I pinch my nose and unpinch it.

Discussion:

Is there a difference between blocked and Unblocked nose taste? Yes
Why? The upper part of your nose  has a olfactory receptor that tells your brain the flavor and to create a flavor.  The olfactory receptor is located at the nasal cavity and when the smell of the food get there that's when you will taste the food.

Did the sweet, bitter, sour salt, tastes react on different parts of your tongue? Yes
Where? The bitter one is at the back of my tongue. The sweet taste is at the front of my tongue. The sour taste is at the side of my tongue.

Physical Education

 Welcome back,

Hi guys welcome back to my blog so for the past few weeks on PE we have been doing gymnastics. I have learn a lot of things. I have learnt some things on the parallels bars like I learned how to  small swing and on the mini tramp I learned how to straight jump. On PE I always bring my gear and I have a can do attitude. I really enjoyed doing gymnastics because I learned so many stuff on the obstacles. The obstacle I enjoyed a lot was the parallels bars because I learned a lot of thing on that obstacle. We ticked somethings on a doc of what we learned and did on gymnastic. Here is the link to the doc to things that I've learned. • Drink- Soda, Water and Milk
  • Timer
Instructions:

  1. get your Equipment ready
  2. Get a scoop of hot sauce on your popsicle stick.
  3. Lick the hot chili sauce and swirl it around your mouth.

The second try was with water and I rate the burning by 7

The third try was with coke and I rate the burning by 9

The last one was with milk and I rate the burning by 5

Research:

How are chili spicy? Did  you know that chili aren't actually spicy. One of it's ingredient inside of it makes your brain think that it's actually spicy. The ingredient is called capsaicin, capsaicin comes in contacts with your pain receptor in your mouth. These pain receptors sense heat and these capsaicin can activate these pain receptors which sends pain to your brain.

How does milk stop the spiciness the most? The milk has a ingredient inside of it which wash away the capsaicin out of your mouth. This ingriedent is called casein. It's like soap washing off grease out of your hand.

Henri Rousseau; Jungle Printing

 Hi guys,

Welcome back to my blog, so at today at period 4 which is art we learned about Henri Rousseau the famous painter. We have been asked to watch a video which reads the book named Henri Rousseau: Jungle Printing. Henri Rousseau is from French and is a roll collector. He was a man who kept joining an art exhibition. Professional painters makes fun of his painting but he kept on joining and kept on painting until he got recognized and famous. Then he still kept on painting until the end of his life. Here is one of the painting he made. This painting is called The Dream and it was made in 1910. After I watched the video I had to write five facts about the video. Some facts that I got from the video was that he loves nature and the color green. He really loves painting and no matter what other people say about his painting he still keeps painting and doesn't give up. Henri Rousseau is born at 1844 and died in 1910. This painting here is Henri Rousseau last painting.

Drama: Maui and the fish tableaus

 Hi guys,

So at this term on Drama we have been doing some freeze frames and we have been copying scenes from Maui nd the Fish Tableaus. We  have been copying some scenes from the book and we have been copying them by doing freeze frame. Somethings that I would change when I perform again is to put more facial expressions in our performance.  Here is our performance. Our transitions didn't go well, we didn't know the order of our transitions.  Our group didn't use that much of facial expressions and physicality. At the first

This is where Maui popped out of nowhere on the boat. We used facial expression here to act like were surprised of how he just popped.

This is where Maui was pulling out the land and we used facial expressions and physicality here.

We didn't really use anything here.

This is our transition.

Places in New Zealand

So today at Wananga we learned about places in New Zealand. We had to name some of the places in New Zealand and outside of New Zealand.  At this blog I will write one facts about each of the places I wrote. We did it in a sheet so I will take a photo of it and put it here.

This is my work.

Facts about the places.

Tasman Sea: Did you know that Tasman Sea was named by a Dutch Explorer named Abel Tasman?

North Island: North Island is more populated than the South Island.

South Island: The person that named the Tasman Sea also sighted the South Island.

Auckland: Auckland is one of the warmest main centres of New Zealand.

Pacific Ocean: The Pacific Ocean is the deepest and largest ocean on Earth.

Christchurch: Christchurch is one of the largest cities in New Zealand.

Wellington: Wellington is the capital city of New Zealand.

South Pacific Ocean: It covers more than 30% of the Earth's surface.

Gummy Bear Osmosis

 Aim:

I want to find out what happens when gummy bears are put in liquid.

Method:

Equipment:

  • Salt water (Sodium Chloride)
  • Normal water
  • Sugar Water(Sucrose)
  • Gummy Bears
  • 2x Petri Dishes
  • Marker pen
  • Electronic Scales

Instructions
  1. Get your equipment
  2. Wear Safety glasses
  3. Using a marker pen write your name and the conditions and the weight of gummy bears.
  4. Do the experiment.
Results:

Dry GummySugar GummyWater GummySalty Gummy
Before Weight(g)2.40g2.32g2.41g2.40g
After Weight(g)2.40g4.36g5.024.80g
Differencegain 0gain 2.04ggain 2.59ggain 2.40g

The water gummy gained the most weight because the molecules of the water are smaller than the salt and sugar water. In that case the gummy bear has small little holes around it. So the water can get through the water holes easier and it can get more water inside the gummy bear than the salt and sugar water. When the salt  and sugar water tries to go  inside the gummy bear's  small holes they all get stuck and they won't be able to fill upt the inside of the gummy bear in that case the gummy bear won't grow that big.

Art

 Hi guys,

Welcome back to my blog. So this term I have art as one of my subject and art is a very good subject because art makes me more focused,  especially when I'm drawing something. So this term in art we have been doing lots of things for example one of the things we did was flipbook which is like a very cool piece of drawing, but it's not just a drawing, it's a drawing that you can move by drawing on pages on a book. and flipping the pages and you will see it move slowly I'll show you my flipbook later...

So how I made my flipbook was with the teacher's help. The teacher gave me  cut out papers that were stapled together and there are about 50 pages of paper. I started to write a drawing that will evolve when you start flipping the book. It will look really cool when you flip it and film it in slow motion. My one was about a road that I started building slowly and a meteor slowly falling towards the road and will slowly hit the guy riding the bike and the guy driving the car. You should try it if you have sometime you could search it up on YouTube, how to make a flipbook.

Here is an example of a flipbook.

The second thing we did after the flipbook was scenario choices which is where we need to pick a scenario out of all of the three options, the options was the alien scenario, Deep sea underworld and lastly heroes and villains. We had to get on a group and pick a scenario the group I was in was with Tutoe and we decided to pick the alien scenario. We chose the alien scenario because we thought it was an interesting scenario that we would be able to make. The alien scenario is about two aliens meeting each other on a  abandoned planet Zoig, one of them came from Mars and one of them came from Jupiter. They met each other on the abandoned planet Zoig, but they need to find a way how to communicate and need to find water to drink, build a shelter and find food.

This is how they met each other, we haven't done all of the backgrounds yet but this is what we ended up with.

My group did camera angles but we haven't fully done the camera angles but we have chosen what camera angles we will use on the scenario. Here is the camera angles that our group chosen.

We have done many things at art but this is all of the things I have done that is still there. We have been making clays and building something out of them. I built a human but I didn't get to take a photo of it because I already crushed it and put it away. I made a minion too but I didn't get to take a picture of it. It was very fun making something by just a clay, it was challenging and very fun. We have been drawing our hands, thumb and our like dinner from yesterday on a little blue notebook. That's all of the things we have been doing at art. I'm sure that we will be doing some more fun stuff at art and I'm sure that we will blog it.

This is the first task we've did  on our first day of art.
The teacher told us to be in a group to make this work. The group I worked with to complete this task is Bronx and Tutoe. We discussed of what Manakitanga means and wrote some examples how to be Manakitanga.

That's all of the things we have  done at art. Thank you for reading my blog.

Kate Sheppard

So for the past few weeks at Hurumanu 1 we have been learning about Parihaka, Kate Sheppard petition and Protest. We have been reading articles about them and answering the question about the article or making something that is connected to the article. We have been doing three of them the past few weeks but we at least need to complete one of them and post it in our blog. I chose to finish the Kate Sheppard petition. It was about the women's were not allowed to vote and how Kate Sheppard change that and made women's allowed to vote on elections. There were lot's of questions to answer and lots of things to summaries. Have a read.

Resilience Task

So today in Wanaga we have been choosing some activities to do on the resilience board. I've done one of them the make a motivational quote, I''ve posted it in  my blog too you could check it out if you want to read the motivational quotes. So what I have been working after the motivational quotes is to write the time where I almost gave up but I didn't and even gave my best to improve. I wrote a writing of it I hope you like it.

Drama

Hi guys,

So this blog post is about what we did in drama. We have been making mask and performing with the mask we made. We preformed on the stage by just using our body to show the audience what we are doing. I didn't wear the mask I made because I can't find it so I got another mask that was made by someone's.

This is the mask that I made. I don't have a photo of me wearing the mask and making the mask but this is the design of the mask that I made.

Lapu Lapu

 Hi guys,

So for the past few days we have been drawing our hero. My hero is Lapu-Lapu. I chose Lapu-Lapu because he stopped Magellan from capturing an island in the Philippines. He is one of the known hero in Philippines. There is even a city in Mactan Island called Lapu-Lapu city. In Lapu-Lapu city that's where the Lapu-Lapu shrine is located.
